Can’t beat my local shop
Well as I leave day 15 of January my small yet meaningful list of New Year's resolutions is looking a bit tattered.
- Be more sociable- haven't seen anyone outside of my own four walls.
- Abstain from alcohol - went out the window on night 8.
- Start running again – but it was soooo cold and now its soooo wet.
- Shop locally more often - Success and pleasure!
As I am an independent trader and have noticed the blitz like holes in my local high street, this one was a bit of a no brainer really. What I wasn't counting on were the warm welcomes and great service that I encountered.
Bypassing Amazon actually got me a healthy walk and the book I wanted put on hold for me at my local bookshop. When I arrived there I was also delighted to help myself to some free cardboard boxes. (Yes Jessie they are for you).
Also an impressive mass of the local independent shops and restaurants in my high street have formed an alliance. In true fighting spirit they are even giving out a group discount card!
How are things in your neck of the woods?
