Snow Days
All work and no play
Apologies for being away for so long. Last week I caught a lovely little something from my dear little boy that knocked me for six for few days. Ahhhh the joys of motherhood. My motherly standing was made very clear for me on Monday morning as I awaited news of my daughters' school openings during the super snow. As a kid I remember gathering around the radio waiting to hear my fate as the announcer went slowly down the list of county schools, saying the word "Closed" over and over again in my mind. My initial reaction on Monday was now how am I going to get any work done? My other half couldn't even get into work and so headed out to play in the snow with the brood. I lasted about 10 minutes alone in the house looking at the piles of laundry and dishes before I too donned my snow gear. I'll let the photos document the fun had by all.
Fun, something that I had come dangerously close to taking for granted. On this past Sunday it took a passing comment from a visitor to the shop to get me thinking about it. "It must be so much fun to work amongst all these pretty things", she said. "Yes it has its moments", I replied. And it does. It doesn't have to be all about celebs and trends although they have their place. At the heart of what I do is allow people to express themselves through their adornments. A giant dressing up box of sorts with a conscience and ethos supporting British based style. So my wish for you today is to find a way to enjoy some good old fashioned fun!
