Short and Sweet

For once there is no need for me to blather on as greenmystyle.com have said it all perfectly. Read about it here.

An Inadvertent Audience with the Divine Miss Budd

Most Sunday's are a fairly pleasant affair at the shop. Why last week alone Jane and I managed to get chatting to a larger than life fellow who had faked his own death on paper to avoid the Israeli army and now divines angel messages for a living . A few beers, a Sunday Times journalist, a grass roots Barack Obama campaigner, some lovely visiting Swedes, some dream interpretation and a tripped fuse later it was 5:30! How time flies when you're two hours late getting home. Then there are the times that aren't so great, like a few Sundays ago when I caught my shoplifting nemesis. Luckily I was able to retrieve the item but what really gets me is that we only have a few of each handmade item that we stock and some things are complete one offs so when they're gone they are Gone!

Surrender Your Money To Your Better Half!

For better or for worse?

We continue our wedding related articles with a post that is sure to divide opinion. Could you do this? Would you do this? Is this how things work at your house? Let us know later but for now here is our guest blogger Lisa Newton of Boogles Ltd.

LN

Lisa Newton started Boogles Ltd (a bookkeeping service) at the age of 23, in the same month she graduated, with just  £150 start up capital. Her mum put in £50 and Lisa added the rest. Never having had a full time 9-5 job in her life, Lisa's transition from full time education to full time entrepreneur was perhaps made slightly easier as she was (in her own words) "still in student mode." With so little cash, there were no flashy offices, only a back bedroom and a kitchen table.  Lisa has stuck to being frugal and budgeting carefully. Initially, clients' premises were the best place to carry out the work as it reduced the outlay on premises costs. Boogles is now in it's 6th year of trading, and they've expanded into other 'money & numbers products' - one being a maths game for primary school children, and another - running money management courses for women.

Cerise UK Exclusive Jewellery Line from Vicky Davies

Vicky Davies Exclusive Inspire Bracelet open
Growing up as an only child I always had a bit of a negative reaction to the phrase "the only one". When I was a very little girl it always made me feel better to have objects in a minimum of 2 just so that nothing ever got lonely. Analyse at will...... As I have grown older and become a more discerning shopper I now appreciate the the value of having something of limited quantity.
This is of particular interest at the moment as we are starting to find our way out of the fast fashion hangover. Now the emphasis is placed more on the rarity, longevity and personal significance of objects and rightly so as our resources are precious.

Always a Bride

Yes it's true. As you may have guessed from the title of this post I have never been a bridesmaid. I've been a bride twice although for the purposes of fashion and accessories the first go round doesn't really count. Reeling from violent post morning sickness in Westminster Town Hall lavvies, clad in the only decent outfit that still fits your 'blossoming' figure could hardly be classed as a good look. Needless to say all the stops were pulled out for deuxieme nuptials!
